Job Summary: Responsible for increasing market share by effectively managing product portfolio, publications and promotions and Vendor relationships.  Possess and develop the knowledge about assigned product lines to be a resource for customers, sales and company to identify trends and drive opportunities. In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined for a marketing product manager, a senior marketing product manager will also handle the following duties outlined below as indicated with “SL.” 


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field or three to five years equivalent education/experience.

  • Skills needed: Ability to work with vendor partners to identify new sales opportunities, develop educational and promotion programs and create monthly/quarterly/annual advertising campaigns. Ability to gather both internal and external data to gain insights for opportunities to grow market share and improve value to dentist and vendors. Ability to communicate and possess highly effective presentation skills.   

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Effectively manages assigned product line portfolio to determine which products are needed to increase market share, maintain GP% and achieve company growth goals. 

  • Performs a quarterly situation analysis of assigned product lines, to determine changes and trends by compiling information from SDM, competitors’ catalogs, monthly journals, surveys of Sales Reps  and customers, and surveys of key manufacturers marketing and product managers. 

  • Effectively increases sales of Benco focused products through educational tools for sales team and quarterly promotions. Works with vendor partners to secure special end-user pricing and financing to benefit the company. 

  • Designs programs related to product benefits, oversees the planning, creation, implementation and tracking of all marketing programs and advertising promotions in coordination with the marketing plan: including but not limited to target mailings, specialty flyers, sampling promotions, up-sell promotions, social media campaigns, internal publications, web-based advertising and external publications. 

  • Responsible for managing spiff payouts for the sales team. 

  • Reviews and contributes to the annual Dental Catalog for product selection and placement as well as other specialty publications. 

  • Provides product alternatives/substitutions for assigned product lines. 

  • Works with Branding and Communications team on provide marketing data from vendors, individual data ideas; targeting compliance with deadlines to ensure timely distribution and publication of all materials. 

  • Owns and maintains vendor relationships. 

  • Provides literature, sales tools and samples to the sales force and customer service team. Responsible for communication to the sales force via Microsoft Teams, marketing updates and other mediums that support ongoing business growth and market changes. 

  • Leads activities with Success partners targeting ongoing growth of specific product lines. 

  • Works with new and existing vendor partners to navigate through the end-to-end launch process, secure all necessary paperwork/tools/collateral to ensure an effective launch.

  • Attends regional meetings in the field, co-travels with territory reps/equipment specialists/field technicians/vendor reps and vendor site visits; all with purpose of educating sales team and understanding their needs to allow marketing to provide ongoing value in assisting Benco in growing and maintaining our market share. 

  • Act as the marketing liaison for interdepartmental communications (IE testing system upgrades, representing the team at quarterly review boards, BCI events, etc.).

  • Ability to review and approve Vendor marketing materials with minimal supervision from Director.  

  • Ability to negotiate programs with Vendors that demonstrate Benco’s value and expertise in dentistry.  Ability to educate sales team on product lines and provide concise information that assists them in educating our customers.  

  • Develops and conducts presentations about Benco and/or Marketing department activities for Sales rep trainings, regional meetings and vendor meetings.

  • Serves as a mentor to at least one Product Manager or buyer/planner; provides guidance daily & weekly on publication deadlines, reviewing sales reports, identifying growth opportunities, and developing marketing plans.   

  • Lead category management project (s) for specific product line – with goal of increasing GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Investment).

  • Able to manage, coach, train, and motivate associates; excellent computer, communication, and negotiating skills.    

  • Works with Supply Chain Director and team to support vendor rebate program negotiation and achievement of subsequent goals. 

  • Ability to communicate and effectively present to Vendors, Benco regional teams, “other” as needed to relay Benco goals, product data, and/or other information that will support growth, education and strengthening of relationships.  

  • Works in conjunction with Supply Chain team to understand Vendor Scorecard and ensure product launches and ongoing sales are balanced with appropriate inventory levels.  

  • Ability to lead focus groups as needed to grow market share in specific product lines and/or improve execution of marketing activities relative to growing market share. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and company.
